Core values are traits or qualities that are not just worthwhile, they represent an individual’s highest priorities, deeply held beliefs, and core, fundamental driving forces. They are the heart of what you stand for in the world.
I tell my children that as they move and grow through life, it is essential to understand their core values. When they go out into the world, these values will shape their words, relationships, and actions.
As adults, we can get caught up in the trappings of daily life – work, chores, finances, Netflix, and forget what truly makes us tick. I love to help my clients remember what’s important to them and begin to put those things back on their to-do list. Usually, they have forgotten about their needs along the way and it’s a joy to help them rediscover themselves.
Do you feel this way also? If so, take some time to read through the following questions and journal your thoughts:
- What do people say they like best about me?
- What do I like best about myself?
- What do I stand for?
- Who do I stand for?
- What are my Core Values? (if you don’t know, there’s a PDF right below here to help you)
Back when I was starting Poppy Grove, this was a helpful exercise to see where I could intertwine my gifts & my values to help others while doing work that lights me up.
