Meet Aylene, this week’s Always Growing feature

Aylene & I were brought together through a ShareMyJourney.org connection two years ago & became fast friends.

We share a love of creativity, motherhood, calling out BS, & putting our most authentic selves into the world.

Her word for 2022 is CONNECT & it’s the sound of laughter -hearing people having fun and being joyous that makes her smile.

When I asked her what makes her push through, she told me, “I left an inauthentic life in pursuit of something else, but I wasn’t sure what. I just knew it wasn’t that. The stakes were high – I left a lot in my wake.

That’s what makes me push through with everything, frankly. Getting to know myself, despite the fact that means pushing outside my comfort zone – over and over again.

As a single mother, it’s important to model this for my son as well.”

When Aylene first showed me the cardboard art she was making for fun while writing her novel, I told her, “this isn’t just a hobby. Girl, you have a gift!”
